About Us

Liv MacKenzie, MA, LPC

I never really followed up with you after our appointment so long ago. (Was it more than a year ago now?) For some reason I thought you might want to know what came of it! We decided to not have kids. You never know, my mind might change, but for now I’m feeling really good and peaceful about that decision. Meeting with you was really helpful to gain some clarity and I just wanted to thank you for your wisdom, kindness, and presence. You are really good at what you do.   — K.S.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 18 years of counseling experience. I obtained my undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, DC and completed an MA in Counseling at Adams University, as well as graduate work in Human Resource Management at Villanova University.

My work has focused on supporting families with anxiety and/or depression after the birth of a child, fertility issues, international and domestic adoption, and parental rights. I also worked with Pediatric Partners of the Southwest in Durango as a member of the Integrated Behavioral Health Team, supporting many families in the Four Corners region.

My approach to wellness is based on the belief that we all have a unique ability to heal through our own inner knowing.  When we pay attention to and process our true feelings, we have the opportunity to feel better and resolve pain.  In this process, we acknowledge our true reality, giving ourselves and our hearts the attention we deserve in a safe, compassionate and supportive space.

I believe healing occurs on many levels (cognitive, spiritual, physical and energetic). I support collaboration with complementary therapies that, when combined with counseling, will enhance your healing experience.

I specialize in supporting women and their families who are challenged by postpartum mood and anxiety disorders. I also maintain a general therapy practice in which I welcome all clients;  male, female, non-binary, and LGBTQ (13 years and older).

My experiences working on parental rights, adoption, foster care, prenatal/postpartum and pediatric issues have given me a unique perspective as a counselor.

My extensive experience related to parental rights, adoption, foster care, prenatal and postpartum and pediatric mental health issues has provided me with a unique perspective and skill set to serve as your counselor.

Nothing gives me greater happiness than seeing a client walk out of my office feeling more relaxed and less distressed after a session! I feel honored to walk side by side with my clients as they delve in to their own healing.
